The OPUS Vocal Ensemble was founded in Veszpr\u00e9m in 2013. The repertoire of the 16-member chamber ensemble includes both religious and secular choral literature, and the associated chamber music, ranging from Renaissance madrigals and motets to 20th<\/sup> century and contemporary works. The program of the concerts is compiled in accordance with the theme and venue of the given concert.<\/p>\n

For their first, major international tour, the Ensemble traveled to Finland, in 2014.<\/p>\n

Besides their concerts in and around Veszpr\u00e9m (Veszpr\u00e9m County, Balaton Uplands), they performed many times in Austria, in 2019. In addition to their concerts, OPUS considers it its mission to shape traditional church music at the highest artistic level within a liturgical framework.<\/p>\n

The artistic director of the OPUS Singing and Chamber Ensemble is organist and conductor P\u00e9ter K\u0151v\u00e1ri, since 2017. He formed the ensemble along the lines of his artistic vision, putting particular emphasis on homogenous and balanced vocal sounds and their flexible, age-appropriate instrumental accompaniment. The 15 chamber singers (mostly non-musicians, but trained singers) perform their work on a voluntary basis, undertaking regular weekly rehearsals, other major rehearsals, liturgical services, and concerts. In 2020, the Ensemble was invited to Estonia (Tallinn, Tartu) and Finland (Helsinki, Oulu, Rovaniemi).<\/p>\n

The Ensemble plays a crucial role in shaping quality vocal chamber music in Veszpr\u00e9m County and in the region (Bakony, Balaton Uplands), functioning as a guide to similar formations, choirs, ensembles and audiences. In addition to their regional performances, in 2019, they accepted the invitations of the Klagenfurt Cathedral and the Salzburg Cathedral, made new introductory YouTube videos, fostering the reputation of Veszpr\u00e9m and the Balaton Uplands, preparing for the \u201cVeszpr\u00e9m-Balaton European Capital of Culture 2023\u201d programs.<\/p>\n

The vocal ensemble was awarded in 2022 with golden diploma on the international choral competition XIX. Venezia in Musica in Italy as category winner of Musica Sacra.<\/p>\n
